The “Pioneer Case Award for Digitalization in Higher Education” (hereinafter referred to as the Pioneer Award) was established by UNESCO-ICHEI to encourage and recognize IIOE global partner institutions for their active exploration, innovation, and practice in the digitalization of higher education. This year’s theme, “Blended Teaching Reform and Innovation in Higher Education,” covered classroom teaching innovation, digital resource development, digital student support, and institutional digital governance and services. The Pioneer Award focuses on discovering localized practical solutions, aiming to harness the global influence of the IIOE partner alliance to lead and promote the digital transformation of higher education in developing countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
In recent years, with the rapid development and widespread application of digital technologies, smart campuses have become a prevailing trend for the future of education. As a comprehensive national key university, Sun Yat-sen University partnered with OS-EASY in early 2023 to co-create the “Sun Yat-sen University Digital Twin Hybrid Experimental Teaching Space Project.” Using OhYi’s TSpace for twin labs, the project established a 100-point integrated online-offline experimental environment, achieving deep integration of computer-based experimental teaching with digital twin and cloud desktop technologies. This provides teachers and students with an efficient, innovative, and intelligent digital teaching environment and platform, reshaping student training models and enriching talent cultivation approaches in higher education to establish a cutting-edge teaching mechanism in China. This award not only recognizes OS-EASY’s efforts in subverting and innovating traditional teaching models but also highlights its outstanding contributions to the deep practice and exploration of “smart campus” and “digital teaching” concepts.
