OS-Easy E-VDI (for university)

Product introduction

OS-easy cloud desktop (OS-Easy E-VDI) uses desktop virtualization technology to replace traditional PC with virtual desktop.

Centralized management in the cloud side, make the terminal device access to the desktop via network at anytime, anywhere.

E-VDI makes desktop deployment more rapid, realize centralized management and zero maintenance. Meanwhile, lower energy consumption.

Architecture and component

Architecture contains:

OS-Easy cloud server

OS-Easy cloud server using Intel E5-2600v3 series CPU, DDR3 memory, Intel enterprise SSD and SAS disk, and configure two or more 1000 Mbps Ethernet ports.

OS-Easy cloud terminal

OS-Easy cloud terminal contains X86 architecture and ARM architecture

X86 architecture:

CPU: Intel dual core 1.6 GHZ

Memory: 2 GB

Hard disk: 8 GB

ARM architecture:

CPU: A9 4-core 1.6 GHZ

Memory: 1 GB

Hard disk: 8 GB

Server cluster

Centralize the whole physical server cluster in one management platform.

No need to operate one by one.

Double desktop mode

Teaching desktop:

1. Not need account number and password.

2. Use “Link clone” to deploy teaching desktop in batch.

3. Offers a variety of recovery strategy to ensure teaching stability.

Personal desktop:

1. Need account number and password, mainly for teacher’s office and multimedia classroom.

2. Can be connected at anywhere by any device;

Template management

Directly connecting virtual desktop from the management platform through VNC protocol, support to install operating systems, applications, then, saved into template which used for creating the virtual machines.

Terminal management

1. Modify IP address, computer name in batch.

2. Make the physical location consistent with PC name.

3. Modify the parameter configuration.

4. Manage classroom depend on different courses.

5. Remote wake up, shutdown, etc.

Scheduled plan

It can automatically start the corresponding teaching environment according to scheduled plan, students do not need to manually choose the desktop environment.

Monitoring alarm

It can monitor all the desktops, including CPU, memory, hard disk, network usage status, and check the current process of all desktops.

Permission settings

It provides multi-role management for school, department, classroom etc.

Performance advantage

Quick deployment

After template completed, use template (file size ≥50GB) to create 100 desktops within 15 seconds.

Class break updating

Using add clone technology to update all desktop applications during the 10-minute class break.

Update 1G files to 200 desktops within 2 minutes.

Rapid running

Use SSD and memory as cache to increase the concurrent efficiency of various applications, the using experience is much better than PC; Windows 7 desktop concurrent start time is shorter.

Technical advantage

Safety and stability

Remote desktop protocol is divided into three parts: server’s service, terminal agent and virtual desktop client, when network connection interrupted, it will not affect the using of virtual desktop.

No storage HA

The teaching desktop HA can be executed without shared storage, when the server installed teaching desktop crashes, users can restart desktop on other compute nodes, and the teaching desktop’s information such as computer name, IP address remains the same.

Real/virtual system

Virtual desktop is not available when network connection interrupted, users can enter into the local system by restart the terminal equipment to continue the teaching.

After network recovered, users can directly enter into the virtual desktops by restarting the terminal equipment.

USB redirection

Ensure all USB peripherals’ can be normally detected and used, (include USB storage devices, printers, scanners, encryption dog, SZM, electronic whiteboard, etc.)

CD-ROM redirection

Ensure CD-ROM on the PC terminal (IDE or SATA interface) can be normally identified and used in virtual desktop.
